Devlog 7 - v0.21.0


Update time!

Nothing groundbreaking did happen this time, just improvements overall. Lots of bugs have been fixed as well as some QoL things. Here's the list:

  • Gradient textures for characters and items make them look more vibrant and interesting
  • Small casting effects to make spells cooler
  • Tons of new items
  • NPC shop
  • Storage chest
  • Big loot table change
  • Blood splats on portraits to indicate damage taken
  • Starting weapons for the player and the companions

With the implementation of more items it became clear that a "requirement" mechanic is needed to limit what each companion could use. A mage with low strength shouldn't be able to wield a big battle axe for instance. So this will come next.

The shops aren't exactly perfect yet either, they just randomly generate some items according to the player level each time he is in town. Some sort of persisting seed that only changes under certain circumstances could be nice to prevent constant level switching for better offers.

Another itemization thing that needs improvements is the enchantments. While there are some in the game, it's not nearly enough for the increased arsenal of items.

At least the important systems take shape!
